    The Photobook Review

I oversaw and designed Issues 002-014 of Aperture’s biannual newsprint of all things photo book related.

Issue 012 with the cinematic photobook as theme, the cover features standard frame sizes and the interior includes  illustrated interpretations of Edward Muybridge’s photographic studies in motion throughout the issue.

    The Heights

The photobook The Heights is a meditation on American masculinity through nostalgic portraits of muscle cars. The project by Matthew Porter needed creative direction that reflected this culture. I developed a design that referenced movie posters from the same era as the cars using illustration and custom lettering. The design shows how an intentionally loud execution can support and celebrate the artwork in the right context, in contrast to usual photo book convention. Finalist in the Lucie Photo Book Prize
